It all started with an act of rebellion. On work experience at a news desk of an evening paper the editor told me I should stick to news. I would need more experience to write features.
So what did I do? I handled it professionally. I sulked! Then I submitted my feature the next day. I remember the utter jubilation when he said he liked it.
My profile of a local politician who had entered a stand-up comedy competition was published. I still have the tattered copy in my portfolio.
Hello! I am a freelance journalist based in Edinburgh and mum to a cheeky one year old girl. When I am not chasing my toddler round the house I am partial to photography, singing in a soul choir and bad puns.
My blog features some of my published articles on health, parenting, lifestyle and travel as well as comment, analysis, social affairs and long-reads.

p.s I also wear another hat as a charity communications professional; technical term ‘blether’.
